Orientation and Mobility (O&M) Instruction may be a related service provided to students who are visually impaired. The Orientation and Mobility Specialist provides both direct service and consultation to help students travel through their environment as independently as possible.
Through O&M instruction, a student will develop body concepts, spatial awareness, orientation, and problem solving strategies. The result is a student that begins to enjoy and learn more about the world around them. The Orientation and Mobility Specialist works closely with the district staff and vision teacher to ensure student success in the school setting. Orientation & Mobility cost is calculated based on the time required to meet the specific needs of the student.
