About

What is CESA 5?

CESA 5 is one of twelve Cooperative Educational Service Agencies in Wisconsin which serve the educational needs of schools and provide a link between school districts and the State's Department of Public Instruction. Cooperative Educational Service Agency #5 provides services and support to 35 public school districts. The agency office is located in Portage, approximately thirty miles north of Madison.

What does CESA 5 do?

Primarily, we provide staff to school districts.  Our staff typically work in more than one school district which allows schools to purchase the amount of staff time they need.

A majority of our staff work in special education (e.g., educational audiologists, classroom teachers, physical therapists, speech & language pathologists, special education directors, etc.), but we also provide staff such as business managers, computer technicians, and reading specialists.  Additionally, we operate multiple alternative education programs throughout the region.

We have teams of specialists who provide training and support related to curriculum & instruction, career & technical education, and educational software applications.  Other teams provide services to County Birth to 3 programs.  Regardless of our districts' needs, we are ready to provide a solution.
